A Few Things Invented in 1994
A list of five inventions that some people may not have heard of that were invented in the year 1994.
- One of the inventions created in 1994 was the Java programming language. It was made for several reasons and the first one was to allow the same program to be ran by more than one operating system. It had supplied support for using computer networks, allowed a code to be used from a remote source securely, and it was very easy to use.
- Another invention was the Wiki concept, invented by Ward Cunningham. In 1994 he first named it the WikiWikiWeb and later installed it on the internet in 1995. He named it that because wiki-wiki meant quick and so it was considered a quick-web. It allows anyone to create or change pages in the site which made it easier to search for information.
- In December Sony Computer Entertainment invented the famous and first Playstation console. Ken Kutaragi would be called “The Father of Playstation” for demonstrating the Playstation’s impressive abilities compared to Nintendo. It also broke a record by selling over 100 million consoles.
- HIV protease inhibitors were created by researchers who worked for three different companies. The companies were La Roche Inc., Abbott Laboratories, and Merck & Co. Inc. The viral load carried by AIDS patents was dropped and it was the first AIDS research breakthrough in over a decade. It interferes with the HIV protease enzyme which as a result will prevent HIV from multiplying. For now the FDA has approved five HIV protease Inhibitors.
- There was also one final invention yet it seemed to be unimportant. It was the first portable mini-garage created by Roger Lefebvre. Yet there may have been other people who would soon add on to what he created probably leading to the modern portable mini-garage.
