Jack Simpson: Brave Man Now at Rest
A report about the deeds Jack Simpson did.
Jack Simpson Now At Rest
The Australian hero Jack Kirkpatrick Simpson was shot in the back at Gallipoli and died on May 19th, 1915
Jack would rescue a lot of soldiers every day. Even though there were gunshots everywhere, he was not scared. He used donkeys to carry wounded to medical stations. “Simpson was worth a hundred men to me,” his boss said.
Soldiers were amazed at how Jack could go into so many dangerous situations and rescue so many men. Jack was good with animals and his favourite donkey was called Duffy.
On May 19th he was shot while trying to take a wounded soldier to safety and died instantly. Some other soldiers took his donkeys and carried on his work. There was a real tombstone for him instead of a cross.
