There are some hilarious Urban Legends. It’s amazing what people think and surprising what’s actually true… Here’s ten funny things that just ain’t so.

The Body of Walt Disney Has Been Frozen to Await a Time When Technology Can Bring Him Back

What is true is that many believe it. Sadly, it’s not true that Walt’s body is laying optimistically in a fridge somewhere. Appealing though the thought of an undead Disney may be, it’s just wild speculation blown up from his secretive funeral arrangements.

The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl is Dead

Dave Grohl was recently rumoured to have died. Even his friends began sending condolences to his wife. Dave (at the time of writing) is alive, well and a little surprised at the strangely groundless accusation.

You Must Kill Either a Pet or a Family Member to Become a Marine

It’s not literally true, but the U.S. military are said to approve of this rumour. They feel conveys the commitment and professionalism of being a Marine!

Nintendo Really Meant Donkey Kong to be Called Monkey Kong but Translated it Wrong

Fans of the game will know it contains no donkeys, though there is certainly a monkey. Donkey Kong’s inventor Shigeru Miyamoto claims he meant it all along. He says the word Donkey conjures up an image of stubbornness, though he declines to say how that makes any more sense!

Coca-Cola Will Dissolve a Tooth Left in it Overnight

Try placing your spare tooth in a glass of Coca-Cola overnight. In the morning you’ll find with lack of drama, it’s just where you left it. There are a number of origins to this story and most come from Coke’s frequent court appearances. Experts in the past have testified a little over enthusiastically that the sugar and Phosphoric Acid in Coke are dangerous additives. On the other hand, it is true that it used to contain Cocaine!

In The Disney Film Aladdin, Aladdin Whispers “Good Teenagers, Take off Your Clothes.”

Aladdin actually whispers something hard to make out and cryptically made up from two voices. It does sound a bit like the claimed phrase….

From the scene where Aladdin climbs onto Jasmines balcony and is confronted by her tiger Rajah.

The Image of Santa Clause in Red and White Was Invented by Coca-Cola

A man dressed up in a red and white “Criscringle” (or Kris Kringle) costume and proceded to climb down a chimney as a promotion as early as 1841. Disappointingly, the red and white character was evolved from a number of European sources.

An Angry Man Once Filled His Wife’s Car With Cement

The Story goes like this:

The driver of a cement mixer arrived home early one day to find a strange sports car in his drive. Assuming his wife was having an affair, he dumps his load of concrete into it, only to discover his wife had just bought it as a present.

Not true. In fact it was two men and an argument about whether an order of concrete had been cancelled or not… The resulting cement filled car incident made the papers and the story got a little embellished.

M16 Rifles Used in Vietnam Were Made by Mattel and Early Batches had the Toy Maker’s Logo Stamped on the Grip

Nope, it’s just that they were reputed to be of such poor quality they may as well have been made of plastic!

The Average Person Swallows Eight Spiders a Year

Well maybe they do, but nobody knows! It’s actually a false statistic made up as a deliberate experiment to see how well the internet can spread false information!
