10 Household Items That Can Save Your Life in the Wild

An everyday object could be your ticket to survival in the wild.

You are riding on a bush plane going to a campground in Canada. When suddenly the pilot radios that there having some technical difficulty. A couple minutes after tell you to brace yourself. When you wake up your in the middle of a forest all alone. You were the only survivor in the crash. You go to the back of the plane to see if there are any supplies or a phone. The pilot’s radio was damaged during the crash. You go into your suitcase and look for supplies. Now here is my list of 10 household items that could save your life in the wild.

  1. Battery

    Cross the battery with a wire to generate a spark to start a fire.

  2. Paper Clip

    When magnetized, can be used as a compass.

  3. Wristwatch

    Determine direction by pointing the hour hand at the sum and forming and imaginary line through the center of the “wedge” created between the hour hand and the 12 o’ clock; that will be your north south line

  4. Sock

    Can filter water.

  5. Shoelace

    Bind sticks and other items together to create shelters.

  6. Tampon

    Can be used as tinder once broken up into fuzz.

  7. Lipstick

    Can be used to write SOS messages on top of rocks.

  8. Bra

    Can also filter water.

  9. Credit Card

    If sharpened can be used to cut things or be a reflective hologram, to signal for help.

  10. Make-Up Mirror

    Reflects the sun to signal to airplanes.
