Relaying five Most and Least “Factual?” events which always make me smile. Not to be taken as the truth, But I’ll leave that open.

Here are some incidents which I have heard of, and would like to share them with you. Whether you believe them or not is another matter!

1. The Most Overdue Library Book

The most Overdue Library book in the history  of library services was a copy of Dr J. Currie’s  Febrile  Diseases . It was booked out from the University of Cincinnati Medical Library in 1820 by a Mr Madd, and returned by his great grandson in December 1963. In that time, it accrues a fine estimated at 2700 dollars

2. The Lowest Score in A Test Match (pre1960)

New Zealand achieved a unique record in March 1955 when they scores a spectacular 26 against England in Auckland. The glory was due to the eleven batsman who contributed.

3. The least Successful Animal Rescue

In the late 1970’s in London UK , a lady called out the emergency services as her cat was trapped up a tree. At that time, the armed forces attended, due to a Firefighters strike. The emergency rescue was successful and the lady was very grateful. As the armed forces backed their vehicle out of her yard, they ran over the cat and killed it.

4. The least unsuccessful Weather report

It has been reported that after flooding in Jeddah, in January 1979, the Arab News broadcast a weather report saying they were unable to report on the weather, as they relied on the airport for weather reports, and this was closed, due to the weather. So whether they would be able to give a weather report tomorrow, was all dependant on the weather!

5. The Least Successful Choral Contest

In the late 1970s,  A choral competition was held in Wales UK. Only one choir entered the competition, and then could only achieve second place as they were penalized by the judges for arriving an hour late!

Hey, this was really interesting. I like the part about the overdue library book because though I always return mine late, I’ve yet to rack up a fine like that! Makes me feel better : )

Nice article. Nothing really surprises me about weather reports as I watch BBC forecasts – and they rarely get it correct!

The one with the cat rescue made me feel bad, however, I couldn’t help but laugh at the irony.

    Good idea for an article…
