Can You Guess What It Is? 2

Clues to help you guess the mystery object I am describing.

Where Would You See Me?

Pick up any book, magazine, or newspaper; and I am on every page. I am even on the Internet. Look at any online article or headline, and you will see me. You can find me in almost any form of the written word.

When Was I Created?

I have been around for so many years; it is kind of difficult to determine my age. Let’s just say I have been around for a while. I am not as old as the creation of the world. But, I am almost as old as the creation of the written word. I was created when the written language took form. Soon, rules were established about when I should and should not be used. People began to use me to create short pauses when expressing themselves.

How Am I Useful?

Sometimes, people don’t understand me and they overuse me. I should be used to separate items in a series, to set off independent clauses from introductory phrases and dependent clauses, and to write the date appropriately.

Who or What Am I?

I am famous. But, be careful! If you don’t look closely enough, you will miss me. Who or what am I?
