Green Place
We must grow more plants and trees.

Needs
I) We get food and oxygen from plants
II) Air, water, food, clothes and shelter are our basic needs
III) Plants increase groundwater levels
Man work
1) Each one should grow at least one tree
2) Just planting a tree is not enough
3) It must be cared for till it is big enough to survive on its own
4) Greening our environment will help us to lead a better life
Trees work
a) Trees help to maintain the moisture in the atmosphere
b) When the trees are cut down the atmosphere becomes very hot
c) Plants hold the soil with the help of their roots
d) The soil provides a home for different groups of micro-organisms and insects that help in decomposing dead matter.
e) The trees provide a home for the birds, bats, squirrels, monkeys and insects to live in.
f) With out these animals, we would have no need dispersal or pollution
Losses
A) When trees are cut, the environment is greatly affected
B) Scarcity of water and temperatures are the result, leading to the death of many living organisms including humans
Therefore more trees should be grown wherever possible and cutting of trees should be avoided.
Benefits
The roots of plants act like a sponge and absorb water when it rains. This water slowly seeps into the ground and collects there. If there are not enough trees or plants covering ground, all the rainwater will run off without soaking into the ground. Rivers and ponds will overflow and cause floods. The rains will wash off the soil. Where there are more trees, there will be less floods and soil erosion.
