Today I was extremely bored at work today and had a lot of free time on my hands. From time to time when work is slow and I have nothing to do I randomly browse the Internet and see what fun things I can come across. Today I looked up some random fun facts about money.
Did You Know…
- Money is not made of paper. That is a common misconception. It is really made up of a cotton and linen blend.
- The first credit card was issued by American Express in 1951
I am sure there are a lot of people who wish they never existed. - TIP is actually an acronym. I never knew that. It actually stands for “to insure promptness”.
- How much do you think you live on a day? Well a third of the world’s population lives on less then $2.00 a day!
- 80% of millionaires drive secondhand cars. Yes it is true. There are many millionaires who are smart and spend wisely. You won’t stay rich forever by spending out of control.
- The dollar sign was designed by Oliver Pollock in 1788.
- How much does a million dollars in all 100 dollar bills weigh? 22lbs. So when you see suitcases full of money in movies, imagine how much they should really weigh!
- You can buy sheets of uncut money. Why anyone would want to do that I’m not sure, but if you really want to you can!
- You can send in your ripped or ruined money to the U.S Treasury and they will repair it for you. I know sometimes people think their ruined dollar bill are worthless, just remember that yes you can get them fixed!
Well there ya have it. A few facts about money that you may not have known before. Sometimes it is nice just to know a few random facts. Hope you all enjoyed it!
