- In April 1931, P.L. Wing started a journey from California, USA to Istanbul, Turkey. The trip took 19 months to complete, for Wing walked all the way backwards.

- According to the judges of a cookery contest in Pomana, California, worms taste like shredded wheat
- China issued the largest ever paper money. The one kwarrote, produced in 1368, measured 23 cm by 33 cm.
- The first person to wear a top hat in public was James Hetherington. Such a large crowd gathered around him that some people fainted in the rush and one person was injured. The police arrested Hetherington and fined him £ 50 for disturbing the peace.
- In 1989 a company in Holland made a Zip Fastener that was 2,851 metres (9,354 ft) long. It had 2,565,900 teeth.
