  1. The male African ostrich is the largest bird and may grow up to 8 feet tall and weigh 300 pounds.
  2. Golden eagles can dive at speeds of 180 mph.
  3. Geese have been seen flying over the Himalayas at a height of more than 29,000 feet.
  4. Weighing only 1/10 of an once, the bee hummingbird holds the record for the smallest species of bird.
  5. Crows are rarely fooled by a Scarecrow, making thought to be the most intelligent bird.
  6. The fastest bird is the African ostrich, able to run 50 mph for short distances.
  7. Ravens have been known to live nearly 70 years!
  8. The Arctic tern flies over 22,000 from the North Pole to the South Pole.
  9. Loons have been found diving at depths of 160 feet.
  10. The cassowary of New Guinea and Australia can cripple or kill a man with a kick of it’s razor-sharp claws.
