Stuff about gorillas.

Gorillas are the largest of all primates and parts of animals including monkeys, lemurs, orangutans, chimpanzees, and humans. Gorillas are peaceful and plant eating animals. Many people compare gorillas from humans. Gorillas are able to stand right but, they prefer to use their hands and legs to walk. Their arms are longer than their legs and they can use the back of their fingers like extra feet when they walk. They call it the knuckle walk. Gorillas and chimpanzees are the only one who can use the knuckle walk.

A group of gorillas are called a troop. There can be up to 5 to 30 gorillas in a troop. They are led by a strong experienced male known as a “Silverback.” Males can be up to 5.6 to 6 feet. Females can be up to 5 feet. Male gorillas can weigh up to 300 to 500 pounds while female gorillas can weigh up to 150 to 200 pounds.   Gorilla’s life span can be about 35 years in the wild and about 50 in the zoo. Gorillas are endangered animals. There are only about 700 mountain gorillas. In 1989 there were only 625.
