Science’s Greatest Discovery
A quick, juvenile opinion on the world’s greatest discovery: The Anesthetic.
In my opinion, everything in this world is composed of science. My most coveted field of science is health. To me, the greatest scientific advance in history ever established would be the anesthetic. Anesthetics are used in most surgeries to prevent the awful sensation of pain in a human. A surgery is usually a required process to ensure the welfare of a human being. Without an anesthetic, a human being undergoing surgery would have to go through such terrible pain that death would be a suitable equalizer. With this, surgeries would highly be neglected and would lead to the downfall of the worldwide population. The anesthetic ensures the safety of a quite dangerous and painful, yet necessary process.
Of course, the anesthetic has done much more good than bad. It has saved lives of many. Believe it or not, some people value death over pain. Some people would not take in the process of an unaided surgery without the tranquility of an anesthetic. Therefore most people would choose to pass away instead of undergoing a lifesaving, yet painful procedure. The anesthetic basically is used to enforce the choice of people to have surgeries.
However with all good the anesthetic has brought, it has some minor consequences. Some people use anesthetics as “bad” drugs. Anesthetics cause numbness that make people feel drowsy and cause many other side effects. It causes them to have a type of “high” feeling.
All in all, without the anesthetic, the world would be ruled by pandemonium. Many would die of diseases and the world would not thrive. That is why I say the anesthetic is one of science’s best discoveries.
