All about scorpions.

Scorpions are cold blooded, invertebrates that like to live in warm places. Scorpions are arthropods, and have eight legs. Scorpions are in the kingdom of animal, phylum of arthropod, class of arachnid, and order of scorpions. Even though scorpions are invertebrates, they have a hard exoskeleton to protect them. Scorpions like to eat crickets, mealworms and pinkies. Scorpions live to a verity of habits including deserts, caves, savannas, and rain forests. Some scorpions have even been found under snow-covered rocks at an elevation of 12,000ft in the Himalaya Mountains. Evan though some scorpions are located in cold places, most like to live in places ranging from 68 degrees Fahrenheit to 99 degrees Fahrenheit.

Scorpions have pincer-like claws that are used to capture prey and to defend themselves. They also have a stinger that can be used to inject their prey or predator with neurotoxin venom. Scorpions can inject a certain amount of venom depending on the size of their victim. Scorpions also have various types of sensory hairs.

There are approximately 2,000 species of scorpions, which are most widely distributed south of 49 degrees north latitude, except in New Zealand and Antarctica. There have even been fossils of scorpions found during the Paleozoic era that are 430 million years old appear very similar to present day species.
