The Complex Motion of Gideon Mizell

The author discovers Universal Personal Velocity by adding up all the vectors of travel – earth, solar system, galaxy, local group – then points out his direction of travel, and is plastered to the ground by the astounding acceleration.

The Earth is revolving around it’s axis at 0.5 kilometers a second.

The Earth is revolving around the Sun at 30 kilometers a second.

The Sun is revolving around the Milky Way Galaxy at 250 kilometers a second.

The Milky Way Galaxy is revolving around with the Local Group of galaxies at 300 kilometers a second.

Total rate of distance traveled … 580.5 kilometers a second

____

There are 31536000 seconds in a year.

My age is 52.

31536000 seconds X 52 years = 1639872000

I have lived (roughly, so far) 1,639,872,000 seconds … 1.6 billion seconds

1639872000 seconds X 580.5 kilometers = 951945696000 kilometers

951,945,696,000 kilometers = 591,511,632,000 miles

In my life, so far, I have traveled (roughly, and in circles mostly) about 591 billion miles

This figure does not account for Leap Years; nor does it take into account the velocity that the Local Group of galaxies is moving away from the point of the Big Bang.

Also, the circles of my movement will be widening gyres because the Earth is tilted 23 degrees from its orbit around the Sun.

Relative to the Earth’s orbit (and tilt) I need to find the line of the Sun’s orbit about the Milky Way.

Relative to the line of the Sun’s orbit, and the Earth’s orbit (and tilt), I need to figure in the line of orbital motion of the Milky Way galaxies around the other galaxies in the Local Group.

And lastly, I need to figure in the line of motion of the Local Group from the point of the Big Bang; this is a spiritual estimate.

In a meditative state I did this one night many years ago, while laying on the roof of my house watching the stars twirl around the sky. I was figuring and estimating and feeling the directions, when all of a sudden the equations came together, and I looked up, pointed, and said, “There.”

My cheeks were stretched back towards my ears. My spine flattened. The pressure nailed me on the roof as my body was pressed down onto the shingles…and I wallowed in the new found discovery of Universal Personal Velocity. Try it. You can do it too.
