The Grey Area in Grey Hair
Commentary on scientific report on why hair goes gray.
Chain reaction is allegedly blamed for our grey hair blues. Scientists have discovered the possible reason for this phenomenon. I will say it, this about the grey area in grey hair.
The kicker is that they think it bleaches from the inside out. Catalase is the enzyme when its level becomes low in the human system then produces the discoloration. Hydrogen peroxide which is produced naturally in the body cant be broken down during this low level flux. So when HP builds up and enzymes that would repair it are in short demand the faulty enzyme system results in grey hair.
Researchers hope to find a way to block what they call the chain reaction, thus resulting in keeping ones beautiful hair color.
Anyone interested in these findings can find out more at The FASEB Journal known as The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.

My hair started graying in my early 30s. Hope they figure out how to stop it. It’s expensive to hide!

My fourth grade teacher, an older woman with a thick head of gray hair, told us the science of gray hair. She said that as we age, the roots of our hair grow deeper. If they strike gray matter, the hair turns gray. If they stike a vacuum, they fall out.
I started going gray quite early, but that was ok. I was always a little jealous that I didn’t inherit my dad’s copper coloured hair. I always said that once my hair went gray, I would start colouring it copper. Now I have the colour that my dad and most of his 8 siblings were blessed with, except that I have to pay for mine.
Very interesting — great article! Well done!
